We learned about the G.R.E.A.T. Decision Making Model in class. First, give thought to the problem. Then, review your choices. Evaluate the consequences of each choice, and access and choose the best choice. After making your decision think it over. Was it the best option?
There are various models out there to help you make good decisions, such as the PLUS Decision Making Process, and the Rational Decision Making Model. In the PLUS Desicion Making Process, first you must define the problem. Then you must identify the availabe alternative solutions to the problem. After that is complete, evaluate the the identified alternatives and make your decision. Implement the decision and then evaluate the decision afterwards. For the Rational Decision Making Model, you must recognize the problem, develop alternative solutions to solve the problem, evaluate the alternatives, choose the best alternative, and put the best plan into action!
The three models mentioned basically work the same way. For instance, a problem must be identified and you must identify alternative solutions to fix the problem. Take some time to think the choices over, choose the best option, and implement your decision.
Although these models are very similar, there are a few small differences. When using the Rational Decision Making Model, it does not say anything about evaluating your decision afterwards like the others did. Other than that, there really are no other differences between the models.
If you are ever confronted with a problem and would need to use one of the models to help you make a good decision, I would say to look at either the G.R.E.A.T. Desicion Making Model or the PLUS Decision Making Process for assistance. Both models work the same way, and unlike the Rational Decision Making Model, they both suggest that you think over your decision after it has been made.

I agree with you Jaden that the most effective one would be the GREAT decision model. I also like the other models too but not as good as
ReplyDeleteGREAT.
I agree with Jaden. The GREAT decision making model and the PLUS decision making model would be the best when making a decision. My main reason for saying these two are better than the rational decision making model is because they make you think about your decision. All three of the models you discussed are similiar, but I think that those are all of the essential steps to making a good decision. I think that we use each of these models everyday in our life without realizing it or knowing that we are. Sometimes decisions do not require as much thought, but when they do, the models you have listed would definitely be effective in choosing the best choice. Thank for the informative blog, Jaden!
ReplyDeleteJaden, first of well done blog, but secondly i also chose the PLUS decesion making model. It seemed like a very popluar one to choose. I would have to agree that all three model are about the same, but i would most likely use the GREAT model because its just easy to remember. VERY IMFORMATIVE THOUGH!
ReplyDeleteI would have to agree that the best model is the GREAT model. The others would also work. The PLUS model also seems like it would work well. great information.
ReplyDeleteHey Jaden that was a really good blog a lot of people have chosen the PLUS model and even though they have some differences every decision making model helps you make the porper decision
ReplyDeleteWow, I thought it was pretty much a fundamental step in ANY decision making process that you think about the decision after you've made it. What's ironic about the Rational Decision Making Model is that it seems to be the most irrational model I've read about so far. If you don't analyze what you've done after the decision, you may never learn from a potential mistake. That was an interesting point you made Jaden about the final step in any decision making model. Once again, I would have to agree that the PLUS and GREAT models are practically the same thing.
ReplyDeleteNice blog Jaden!
Wonderful job Jaden. I'm sure Josh would be pround. Just kidding of course. Previously, I commented on Erica's post that the rational decision making model was the best, but after reading about PLUS, I like that one a little more. I didn't realize then that the rational decision making model did not have you evaluate the decision after you have implemented it. For this reason, I would choose PLUS over GREAT and the rational decision making model. The other steps in PLUS are very similar to the rational model, with the exception of the evaluation afterwards. I agree with Erica in saying that we use these processes every day, not to this extent, but nonetheless, we do use them. As I said before, great job.
ReplyDeleteBodacious Work Jade! After reviewing your work and everyone's comments, it seems that most people find the G.R.E.A.T. model the most effective. It may be the easiness of remembrance or captivating steps, but whatever it is. It seems to stick out in my mind as the best. Nice job!
